The witness, Onebene da Volta mantovana, had met Guglielmo forty years before his deposition (which occurred on 29 May 1291) in Mantua and recalls Guglielmo had later been burned (“bene sunt XL anni et ultra quod […] habuit noticiam cuiusdam Guilielmi de Funi de Bononia, qui postea fuit conbustus pro crimine heresis”).
